"We are looking to add an additional endurance event in France at some points in 2021"
"Lastly, we will be updating the timing of the special events to minimize the impact of one event ending while another is launching. We will keep the standard broadcast split at the same time but you will see some adjustments and additions to the other time slots to help disperse the participation."
@popolinho Quelles modifs?
"Our team met Monday morning to fully debrief the event and have action plans in place to make the required short and long-term changes to our scheduler and database infrastructure to minimize the chance of these issues occurring again"
Wait & see...
2021
- 24H de Daytona: P5 en GTE Class 5e split
2020
- 12h de Daytona (24h Anna): P8 en GTE Class split 1
- 10H de Road Atlanta: P1 en GTE Class split 3, P4 en split 7 et P6 en split 13
- 24H du Mans: P3 en GTE Class 4e split
- 24H du Nürburgring: P2 en TCR Class 5e split
- 12H de Sebring: P5 en GTE Class 5e split
- 24H de Daytona: P6 en GTE Class 6e split
Un bilan pas si dégueu dégueu

SIMULATION:
Race Servers
- While a Race Server is creating splits and sessions for an event, no new registrations will be allowed for that event. This process occurs when the window for registering for an event as a participant closes. This is particularly helpful for large-scale special events and team events where dozens of splits and sessions are being created at the same time. Stopping new registrations will reduce the load on the scheduler. Further registration and joining of the sessions, for spotting, spectating, etc., will be allowed again after the sessions have been fully created and launched.
- - This change has no effect on members who register for an event before the splits and sessions are created.
CARS:
Dallara IR18
- Audio levels for the limiter have been increased to 12300 RPM.
McLaren MP4-12C GT3

Special Event: What to Expect for Joining & Registering
While we haven't made changes to this overall team registration process, we want to prepare you for some differences that you might encounter with this process for special events, due to increased participation.
For special events, we have added more time to the registration window. This gives everyone more time to register their teams, declare drivers, and even get into a Practice session before it moves on to the Race event. This extended registration window will be available during the 2021 Bathurst 12 Hour event.
Once the registration window for new teams closes, the race scheduler has the information to determine the splits for the event and can begin launching the sessions. Thanks to the declare drivers system, we have seen a pattern of team behavior that can result in slower processing of registration for the event. Just after the registration period ends, we have observed a significant increase in the registrations of other team members, wanting to join the session right away. All these additional requests to register and join put additional stress on the race scheduler, making its job more difficult. When this happens, it simply takes a longer time for it to complete its tasks. Knowing exactly how long this process takes can not be determined. The technical reason for this delay is that there is contention for shared resources between the scheduler and those members registering before the sessions are actually created. One can think of this as though you had the task to organize a list of 5000 words alphabetically, but every second, another 5 random words were added to the list. When there is no contention, the scheduling process is usually under a minute and seldom longer than a few minutes. When there is contention, we've observed this process taking upwards of 45 minutes. This pleases no one.
We've implemented a change to the registration processing that we expect will help this process. Once the main registration period closes, and splits are being made prior to events beginning to launch, the scheduler is simply not going to allow any additional members to register until all sessions have finished launching. This will give the scheduler unimpeded time to do its thing. Those who try to register during this time period will not be allowed to register. They'll receive a new error message that says, "Please wait, registration is temporarily closed while the session launches. You will be able to register once the session has fully started.". For members that registered for the session before the main registration period closed, nothing has changed. They will receive a "Join" button in the iRacing UI or a "Race" button on the Membersite or if they are in a Practice session, just as they normally would. This message will only be presented to members attempting to register to enter the session after the main registration window has closed and before the session has launched.
Additionally, we've identified and made improvements to data locking strategies and made physical changes to data structures to spread out data and reduce contention. We plan to continue making additional behind-the-scenes improvements, especially after we have more data from another special event.
As a reminder, please note that team registration and the declaring of drivers must still be completed entirely before the normal registration period ends.
I've included some screenshots from the UI below so you can know ahead of time what to expect if you are attempting to join while the session is launching.
